Psy
3570 Practicum with Special Populations
Croyden
School:
The site
of PSY 357 is the Pre-Primary Impaired classroom at Croyden
Avenue School in Kalamazoo, MI. Croyden School provides educational
services for individuals from Kalamazoo county with behavioral
or emotional impairments.
The Pre-Primary
Impaired (PPI) classroom provides behavioral interventions
for autistic children ranging in age from two to six years
of age. Unique to most schools offering a behavioral discrete-trial
teaching method, Croyden School is a publically-funded program
allowing access to behavioral technology for free to children
from all economic, social and cultural backgrounds.
The PPI
classroom is open year-round from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m..
The PSY 357 schedule follows the PPI/Croyden School schedule
rather than WMU's. This means that although WMU may have
a scheduled day off, PSY 357 tutors may still be required
to attend their session at Croyden to fulfill their course
requirements.
